The definition of LiuHeBafa (LHBF) is easily available through wiki or other sites.

Saying that the body and mind have to work in unison is so cliché that it makes me cringe – the fact that anyone moves involves both muscles and brain function and is that good enough? If not, what exactly is this ‘in-harmony’ business? Are we defining the obvious or is this something more significant that is trainable?

I like to think of the six harmonies as something like the Canadian Constitution – a value definition that we strive for (and be guided by) despite changes of governments, laws, etc.. Similarly, Liuhe *six harmonies” is what we value despite of potential changes in techniques, strategies, training methods over time.

Methods do change over time. However, the guiding principle of methods stay reasonably constant if it is abstracted to the proper level. For example, the “What” may be to go downtown. There are many ways to get downtown depending on what you want to get out of the trip, you may choose the fastest route or the scenic route. However, even given that you want the fastest routine, depending on the time of day, the start point and road condition, you may come up with different solutions. However, the general approach is still to use public transit when possible, avoid roadworks, etc.
