Since eBook and audio become more accessible (via the library) and affordable (cheaper than print), I read a lot more than I used to. I used to read around 10 printed books per year. First year (2014) I went into eBook, I read 66 books. In 2017, I finished 123 books. There are lots of people with some great interesting ideas, sometimes told through how-to books and sometimes their ideas get interlaced into the story itself. While you may not always agree with the author, it does trigger your own thought process.

I recently saw this formula, written in Roman numeral. The formula doesn’t quite add up but is actually correct according to Dan Brown in the book “Origin”. Can you figure it out?

X = XI + I

All too often, we tend to use the simplest and direct way to interpret things surrounding us. It is needed and effective most of the time. However, it is a problem when we get stuck, our mind still cannot dis-engage and try to find ‘new’ ways / ‘fresh’ view to process the information.

Exercise
The purpose of this article is multi-folds:
– to encourage you to fully exploit resources around you. Great ideas may come from totally non-related sources or maybe even an apple (ha-ha).
– to challenge you to think outside the box.

Solve the above question (X = XI + I) and also the following:
X = X + 1
1 + 1 = 1
Are the above correct?

How do you apply it in martial arts?
