All successful people share a similar mindset – their perseverence despite numerous failures, their work ethics toward even the simplest tasks, their “Can-do” attitude and many more. Whether it is kung fu, career, a specific sport or whatever, the same rule applies. Skills are only applicable to specific situation(s), the right mindset applies through life.

Without the right mindset, you won’t be able to learn, absorb and apply even if the ‘learnable lessons’ are right in front of you. There is an old Chinese saying: “As if returning from a treasure mountain empty-handed (如入寶山空手回)”.

A lot of you still treat the assignments from the blog as an obligation. I see them as my way of sharing with you the ‘secrets’ of success. You cannot watch someone else doing push ups and be benefited by their hard work. It is simple – those that work benefit, those that don’t will never experience the changes from within. I don’t believe in having an “inner” circle of students – those that work understand and those that don’t will never get it.

There are days when an assignment may go right over your head. Acknowledging that you need help or explanation is a first step, not-trying is a guaranteed failure. This applies to the exercises as well as actual combat – non-response has a guarnateed outcome.
