‘Knowing’ is not good enough, most ideas and movements take practice to really own it. Lots of people attend seminars to become millionaires but not too many actually became millionaires.

Thinking that you know it all means that you will not be willing to listen to new ideas. Look at Blackberry, Encyclopedia, Yahoo, etc., they all think KNOW their business and refuses to adapt. In our system, there are lots of subtle details that make a huge difference in effectiveness, thinking that you know it already means that you won’t explore, experiment and won’t put time into it anymore.

You don’t learn to become a marathon runner … you do have to be passionate about putting one leg in front of the other. The movement itself cannot be any simpler but how many have the perseverance to create magic out of something that simple? How many never started because they THINK it is too hard? Learning is not always about a skill, via a simple activity like running, you learn how your body and mind react to training, rest, load, temperature, road surface, pace, stress, changes, time of day, food, water, racing strategies, etc.

Changes are stressful but the power and ability to change is one of the ‘secrets’ of our system. So embrace changes on even the simplest task.

I see lots of talented kids in terms of movement patterns. Often missed in talent identification is the mental aspect. Many talented kids never achieved their full potential because of weakness of their mind. To give yourself or your child the best chances for successes, help them grow physically as well as mentally. Like muscles, the mind responds to training and training makes perfect.

  • Bruce Lee said “A punch is more than a punch and yet a punch is just a punch”. What do you think he meant by it? What is your personal experience so far?
I know this already…
