Random thoughts on ‘being balanced’:

  • If ‘being balanced’ equates to a ‘flat line’ where there are no highs and lows, life will be quite boring.
  • If ‘being balanced’ means that you are never committed to your game plan or decisions and never take any risks, you will not be a good leader.
  • If ‘being balanced’ means that you never stress your body nor mind, then you will never reach your true potential. Think of the analogue radio tuner, you have to go past it to know that you are over and have to scale back.
  • If a person that kicks from a perfectly balanced position may look nice and controlled, however, it does not take into account the reality of physics – action and reaction and therefore will fall apart.
  • If ‘being balanced’ reflects your training and abilities where you can handle very different situations and demands to your body, then I don’t mind having more of that.
  • Things may not be perfectly balanced in a specific point in time, if you aware of its imbalance, its exposures and be ready to flow past it, it reflects more of true nature.
  • ‘Being balanced’ is great if I am standing on a tight rope span between two buildings. Actually I would rather think of it as “Do whatever it takes to stay up there” 😉
  • I don’t know because there really isn’t any good definition of ‘balance’…whose criteria is it anyways?

Exercise (email / facebook me):

  • Those that came last class are asked to create something..follow through with it and email me by Monday night so I can evaluate what you have designed. Again, start with something, doesn’t has to be perfect in the first try.
