When an individual joins the adult kung fu class, they are learning the ins-and-outs of martial arts, from basic punch and kicks to traditional forms to combat applications. Different from most internal martial art school, while we value the ‘relaxed state’ and its associated efficiencies, we also work on physical conditioning like push ups and sit ups. In other words, we embrace both the hard and soft approaches to training.

Over the years, I found that just teaching the physical aspect is not enough and therefore I started this blog in 2011 – once a week and with an exercise to be completed by each student. Ultimately, what goes through your mind affects your delivery. Having a deeper understanding of the thought process is essential to our training. I do not always respond to each student’s submission. I think that having the concept of “right” or “wrong” is good for kids, the real world is far from that. Furthermore, I want to inspire them to be free thinking individuals and not be limited by me. Triggering the thought process, being aware of possibilities of more than one right answer and learning to just try (despite the non-precise nature of some of the questions) are all reasons for the blog.

Having a huge repository of articles is great but it is almost impossible to motivate someone to look through the 250+ articles. The following are picked by Darryl on what he think is a good starting point for adult beginners:
