Darryl showed me an article about MMA published in a most unexpected place – Popular Science. Please read the article. It shows how the evolution is often not inspired from within a certain discipline itself but from an totally unrelated sport – in this case, Moneyball (a movie that shows how one individual changes the game of baseball by using statistics).

To cause changes and improvements, you need to think outside the box and take interest in everything around you. See what works in an unrelated discipline and see if you can apply it towards your discipline/work.

For myself, to get external stimulation, I teach and interact with students, I experiment. I watch fights, YouTube and I read. In 2016, I read over 110 books. I coach kids, teens, adults to 90 year old seniors, all of them with different needs. Every year, I am refining my teaching and analytical skills.

Lastly, I want to express my appreciation to Darryl for passing interesting articles along. Those are some of the less than obvious things that will carry him a long way! You can do the same!
